The Nippon Foundation Fellowships for Asian Public Intellectuals (API) Fellowships and Research Center for Regional Resources-Indonesian Institute of Sciences.
The API Fellowships are open to academics, mass media professionals, artists, NGO leaders, and others with moral authority - who are working to shape public opinion and influence policy in their societies. The Fellowships will give these intellectual leaders the opportunity to learn what their counterparts are doing in different cultural and ethnic contexts, generate theoritical ideas to cope with social and economic change, and build the intellectual network of the future.
The themes for the fellowships year 2013 - 2014 are:
1. Changing Identities and their Social, Historical, and Cultural Contexts.
2. Reflection on the Human Condition and the Search for Social Justice.
3. Globalization: Structures, Processes and Altenatives.
Participating Countries are Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, The Philippines, and Thailand.
The Fellowships are offered under two categories:
API Fellowships (under the age of 40 years old as of August 31, 2012)
API Senior Fellowships (above the age of 40 years as of August 31, 2012)
API Fellowships Program is a regional program administered by five academic institutions and is fully funded by The Nippon Foundation.
