UMM had the opportunity to receive Teaching Mobility through the Erasmus+ program. This program was carried out with Professor Ricardo Real Pedrosa de Sousa for a week. Professor Ricardo is a professor at the Universidade Autonoma de Lisboa (UAL), Lisbon, Portugal. Ph.D. background in Development Studies in Political Science and International Relations. Since 2020, with his skills and experience, Prof. Ricardo was appointed as an Associate Professor in International Relations until now.
On May 21, 2023, Professor Ricardo arrived at Abdulrachman Saleh Airport and was greeted directly by UMM IRO staff. Several visits were made before the teaching process was carried out with UMM leaders. The arrival of Professor Ricardo was also welcomed by the UMM vice-chancellor 1 in his office by discussing the potential for cooperation between the two parties. The teaching conducted by Professor Ricardo was focused on the study program of International Relations, FISIP UMM which was well followed by lecturers and students. The first lecture was held on the morning of Tuesday, May 23, 2023, with the theme "International Relations Lecturer Forum: T1. The Thucydides Trap - China versus America was attended by lecturers of international relations. In the afternoon, the second lesson was held at GKB 1 attended by students from the international relations study program with the theme of discussion, "Explaining the state in Africa: Neopatrimonialism and Other Approaches". On Wednesday, 24 May 2023 Professor Ricardo carried out the third and fourth learning processes which were both attended by international relations students in the morning and afternoon with the topic "Global Governance: The African Union Challenge to United Nations Security Council Primacy on Military Interventions" and The fourth is “The African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA)”.
Not only that, apart from providing learning to the UMM academic community, Professor Ricardo also toured the city by visiting Malang city icons such as Colorful Village, and Malang City Square, a Cultural trip to Bromo accompanied by UMM IRO. After sharing a lot of knowledge and visiting many places, Professor Ricardo ended his visit to UMM on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
