1. What is IELSP?
Indonesia English Language Study Program is a scholarship program which offers opportunity to join an English course in American Universities for 8 (eight) weeks.
The program is intended for increasing English skill of the participants, especially in English for Specific Purposes. Besides, the participants would have chance to learn American culture and society directly since the participants would attend immersion program in international class where they would join other participants from various nations and countries. Thorugh the program, the participants would not only learn English, but also attend various cultural programs which would provide invaluable experience.
2. Who are eligible for the program?
IELSP is available for those who are 19 – 24 years old and registered active as undergraduate student (at least in the third year or in the fifth semester and above) from any departments at any Indonesian universities. The participants are required to have good English skill proved by International TOEFL® or ITP TOEFL® scores 450 (minimal). The chosen participants must be willing to leave lecture at the university of origin for 8 weeks since they would participate in intensive course in the United States for the weeks.
3. What are the requirements?
- 19 – 24 years old
- undergraduate student of the third year (minimal) or of the fifth semester and above at any Indonesian universities through out Indonesia (HAVE NOT GRADUATED YET/HAVE NOT PASSED THESIS EXAM)
- having good English skill proved by International TOEFL® or ITP TOEFL® scores (450 is minimal). The score is not the result of prediction test.
- having good academic achievement
- actively participate in various activities and organizations
- having strong commitment to return to Indonesia soon after the end of the program
- having no experience of studying in the USA or other overseas countries
- having characteristics: active, independent, responsible, confident and open minded.
- computer literate
4. How to apply?
Registration form is available at the office of Indonesian International Education Foundation (IIEF), Menara Imperium Lt. 28 Suite B, Jl. HR Rasuna Said Kav 1, Jakarta 12980. The form is also available for downloading at the IIEF web www.iief.or.id. The form might be copied.
5. What documents should be enclosed in the application form?
The applicant must enclose the following documents in the application form:
- 1 (one) 4 x 6 sized colored photograph
- 1 (one) copy of Identity Card (KTP)
- 1 (one) official letter from the university stating that the applicant is student of the university
- academic transcripts from semester 1
- 1 (one) copy of high school diploma (requires no translation)
- 1 (one) copy of high school exam score list (requires no translation)
- 1 (one) reference letter from lecturer of the university of origin using certain form attached in the application form. The reference form requires to be enclosed to the sealed envelope along together with the application form. A reference letter from an English Subject lecturer is better.
- 1 (one) copy of TOEFL® score (International TOEFL® or ITP TOEFL®)
6. What is ITP TOEFL®?
Institutional TOEFL® is an institutional and national paper-based TOEFL® usually used for applying jobs and domestic scholarship. The materials of the test consist of: Listening, Structure and Reading.
How if the score of the ITP TOEFL® test has not been announced yet in time of applying?
The IPT TOEFL® test must be taken before the deadline, but the result might be submitted after the deadline. On the fourth page of application sheets, please state “I am currently still waiting for my TOEFL® score” . Besides, please inform the date, month, and year as well as test center of the ITP TOEFL®.
