San Francisco, October 8, 2014 — The Asia Foundation launched a call for applicants for its 2015 Asia Development Fellows: Emerging Leadership for Asia’s Future program. Now in its second year, the prestigious program is seeking accomplished Asian changemakers interested in tackling the region’s social and economic development challenges. Applications are now accepted through November 12, 2014.

Six decades after its founding, The Asia Foundation remains committed to helping Asian leaders meet the challenges they face today. The Foundation continues this tradition with its Development Fellows program, bringing together an accomplished group of young changemakers – NGO and civil society leaders, government officials and policymakers, social entrepreneurs, journalists, environmentalists, and academics. The year-long career advancement program will leverage the Foundation’s extensive 18-country network and deep expertise working with innovative leaders and communities across the region.

The program provides highly qualified, young Asian professionals (under 40 years of age) with an unparalleled opportunity to cultivate their leadership skills and gain in-depth knowledge of Asia’s critical development challenges. Fellows will engage in intensive learning modules and leadership development –including short courses, conferences and study tours – while maintaining flexibility to stay in their current occupations.

The inaugural 2014 cohort of 10 Development Fellows were selected from a group of over 600 extraordinary candidates from over 20 Asian counties. The 2014 program included a four-day Leadership Development Workshop presented at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at National University of Singapore. The fellows also engaged with leading Philippine development innovators and policy-makers. The 10 Fellows concluded the program with a two-week dialogue and study tour in Washington D.C. and in San Francisco at the Development Fellows Forum and the Foundation’s 60th anniversary gala.

The 2015 program will be conducted in Singapore, Nepal, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. with a flexible small grant award of US $5,000 provided.

The call for applications will close on  November 12, 2014. Please apply here.
